I teach and perform trumpet, piano, and singing:
I am a passionate teacher of music. I ensure that my pupils learn and understand the theory of music and the technique of the instrument they are learning so that they get the best out of the musical instrument and this ensures that the learning process is enjoyable.
I do my best to teach in a balanced way that my pupils develop an all-round music understanding and sound musicianship. The lessons I tutor are structured and consistent and my music students are encouraged every step of the way.
Since 2009 I have taught students aged from five to sixty-five, encouraging them to take ABRSM exams and to take part in music festivals. I have also assisted school students with their Standard Grades, National 4s and 5s and Highers and undergraduate university students with their assignments.
As a trumpeter, I was principal trumpeter for the Ayrshire Symphony Orchestra until 2013 and now I am a guest principal for them at their Christmas and Spring concerts and I have also worked as a freelance orchestral player. I played with the Kelvin Ensemble while attending the University of Glasgow.
As a pianist, other than accompanying my pupils, I play piano for my local church and I have worked as a freelance accompanist.
From 2007-2015, I was Music Director of the Come Back to God Missionary Society in Saltcoats which involved a schedule of workshops, teaching, studio work, accompanying and arranging. I also conducted, and accompanied, the vocal group “The Singers”, who perform throughout the year at community events and social engagements.
I perform across the United Kingdom. I only teach from my own studio and occasionally on a peripatetic basis. If you are interested in booking me then please use the contact form.
